The aim of this workshop is to discuss and share recent developments in optimization and inverse methodologies and their applications to the design and working principle of electromagnetic devices. A special focus will be put on topology optimization and optimal energy management.
It will also provide an opportunity to meet experts working in several cutting-edge research fields in engineering, mathematics and physics, in the general framework of the innovation in electromagnetic methods and applications. The conference program will consist of invited lectures, oral presentations and poster sessions.
The former Benedictine Monastery in Pisa, located on the southern bank of the Arno River, was built in 1393 to house the Benedictine nuns, who had moved into the city after Saracen raids.
Over the centuries, the building underwent several renovations. During the 16th and 17th centuries, it was expanded and remodeled, while in 1850 its distinctive Neo-Gothic façade overlooking the river was added.
The monastery was confiscated twice: first during the Napoleonic occupation in 1808, and later following the suppression of religious orders in 1866. Returned to the nuns in 1940, it was severely damaged by Allied bombing in 1943.
Today, the building is privately owned and remains an important example of Pisa’s religious and architectural heritage.
